1946-2017

Bob Bajardi, 71, of Red Hook, NY passed away after a long illness, with his family by his side, on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.
Born August 26, 1946 in Brooklyn, NY, Bob was the son of the late Bernard and Helen (Kladis) Bajardi and brother to Bernard Jr., Janice, and Thomas Sr.
A licensed master plumber, Bob owned and operated Lane Plumbing & Heating in Putnam Valley, was the Director of Plumbing, Heating, & Air Conditioning at Arlington Central Schools, and Director of Facilities at Hyde Park Central Schools before retiring. He also served as an instructor of HVAC systems at Dutchess County BOCES.
Bob was deeply spiritual, practicing the ways of the Lakota for many years. He believed “Mitakuye Oyasin” (All are related) and treated all he encountered accordingly. He found peace in the Catskill Mountains, at the shores of the Hudson River, and was a contributor to the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. He was politically active throughout his life and instilled in his children a passion for staying informed and taking action whenever inspired.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sandra (Costakis) Bajardi and son Robert James Bajardi who reside in Red Hook, NY. In addition, he is survived by his adult children from a previous marriage to Suzan (Glasthal) Bajardi of Rochester, NY: Lane Bajardi and wife Kimberly of Hoboken, NJ; Raissa Carey and husband Kevin of Red Hook, NY; Devin Bajardi and wife Kisha of Denver, CO; Troy Bajardi and wife Kristina of Rochester, NY; Chiara Bajardi and husband Andrew Litz of Brooklyn, NY; his grandchildren Patrick and Lili Carey, Benjamin, Elena, Cyrus, and Vincent Bajardi; along with extended family and innumerable friends.
The family welcomes all whose lives were touched during his time here to join them on Sunday, October 29, 2017 to reflect on Bob's journey and celebrate times shared. The gathering will be from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at 38 Mountain Drive in Hunter, NY. There will also be calling hours for those in the area from 2:00-5:00pm on Saturday, the 28th at the Burnett & White Funeral Home in Red Hook, NY.  Spreading of ashes will be a private family ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lakota People’s Law Project, an organization whose mission Bob deeply supported.
